About Me

You’ve reached the personal blog of Luis Baars. In my 20+ years of work experience I’ve been a programmer, system administrator, DBA, team lead, systems engineer, and most recently, a NASA researcher. I have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics with a Computer Science minor from SUNY Geneseo and a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Space Systems from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

I have many years of experience programming in numerous languages including MATLAB, Java, C, C++, Python, Perl, FORTRAN, and Ada. Since 2005, I have devoted most of my career researching topics in astrodynamics, satellite simulation, satellite command & control, and collision avoidance.

Most of what I will post will be devoted to topics in programming and/or space systems, but I’ll likely also occasionally post other things that interest me such as books, cooking, music, etc.

Thanks for stopping by!
